This airconditioned home makes the most of summer and is the perfect retreat any time of year. When the pool beckons, the focus is on the patios and wrap around terraces with their wrought iron railings, for taking the sun/

Yet within the house there is a grand living and dining room for settling down in front of a big screen movie, even a glazed veranda for quiet moments for two, peek-a-boo glimpses of the old church tower. 


You may enjoy a cool night's sleep even in the height of summer when you swtich on the air conditioning that runs through the home..

Two double bedrooms and one very versatile adaptable twin bedroom provide comfortable accommodation for 6, and one of the sofas in the vast living room converts into a very comfortable double bed for an extra guest or two.


The house has two bathrooms: one a traditional family bathroom with bathtub and wc; the other is an ensuite shower to the smaller of the double bedrooms.
 
This bedroom is down a small flight of steps from the main part of the house - a more private space.

There is a second wc as well, off the hallway.


The living room is massive and the large dining table seats 8 guests very comfortably indeed. And if you have friends to dinner, pull up an extra couple of chairs from the veranda to accommodate everyone over a memorable meal


Settle down with a good book by the hearth of the fireplace, or walk through to that east-facing veranda  at the end of the living room; perhaps find a seat at one of the terraces at the side and back of the house to follow the sun around the property or simply to indulge in some 'me time' or special moments a deux.

The smart kitchen with five gas rings, oven/grill, microwave and fridge freezer means that cooking is a doddle, so you may spend more time in the pool living a life of leisure. But the fun of Marseillan is going to the Tuesday morning market a few minutes away and preparing the fresh produce of the south of France  in your own home.

However, it is holiday time and if you prefer to think of the kitchen more as a a breakfast bar, then remember that, just around the corner, Chez Pilou will cook your dinner for you,:all you have to do is wander round and collect the meal at your leisure. And the newest restaurant along the road, Panam, now delivers snacks to your door, any evening.



You'll find dishwashers, toaster, kettle, coffee mill and cafetiere etc for preparing the family breakfast to enjoy around the huge dining table or outdoors under the pergola, or the breakfast bar or one of the smaller tables around the terraces and patios for quieter private petits dejeuners.

Outside is an open air living space all its own, with the main dining area and purpose build brick barbecue under a wooden pergola.

Discover well-planted side gardens with mature bushes, a hidden bench amid the lavender and oleander and a 50 square metre poolside patio for lazing the day away by the water. And this is but few minutes stroll to the village for the freshest bread and gossip from the baker around the corner and the quayside restaurants of the port any night of the week. The sleepy old village (said to be oldest in France) promises butchers, fish counters and fruiterers within easy reach. Best of all the gorgeous port with its quayside restaurants is minutes walk away.

Two bedrooms have DVD players so you may watch a movie from the well stocked film library. In the living room a state of the art music system is matched by the latest 47" LED big screen home cinema system, for screening DVD and BluRay. On the main screen you may choose from a selection of English and French language digital channels.

The gardens wrap around the house. Rich and colourful bushes bloom in spring and summer time, a suntrap patio area and raised glazed terraces for watching butterflies and birds in the garden over the first coffee of the morning.

You are just yards from the bus stop for a direct shuttle bus to the beaches, throughout July and August, meaning that the lively bars, karting, funfair and sports of Marseillan Plage are easilly accessible.

A simpler little plagette by the banks of the lagoon is a ten minute walk from the house. Right by the fishermen's quarter and children's park is where the locals laze on a summer afternoon, away from the tourists.

If you feel energetic you may book a tennise court on the road to the oyster farms, or head down to the port or beach for some serious watersports. Kite-surfing and jet ski sessions are summer favourites. Take a boat out on the lagoon, with your own private skipper for 60 euros for half a day, swimming by the oyster beds.

Buy wines and shellfish from your neighbours, try your hand at jet skiing or kite surfing, or dress up for a night at the casino at the Cap, 15 minutes from the house.
