AND EUROSTAR AND TGV HIGH SPEED RAIL FROM LONDON ST PANCRAS

Trains to the Med

The easy and comfortable route South, no luggage restrictions, freedome to stroll and enjoy a coffee at the bar during the journey is the fast track Eurostar and high speed TGV train option.

Either take the direct 5 and a half hour run between London and Avignon (or Marseille) or channel hop from St Pancras, changing to the swift smart luxury of TGV in Paris or Lille.

The Eurostar direct service (starting at £45 one way) runs from London and Ashford all year round - fewer trains in winter of course. Upgrades to Standard Premier (club class style accommodation and breakfast and lunch served on the way down) often at only modest supplements. Avignon fares include free 5-min loal train shuttle from Avignon TGV station to the city centre, where you can get local trains to Agde. However, ana amazing landscaped car rental park at the out of town Avignon TGV means you can grab a hire car and be on the road to Marseillan within minutes.

Changing in Paris or Lille brings the option of breaking your journey in one of these inspiring cities. You may take the TGV down to Montpellier, or stay on the train til you reach Agde. Montpellier is best for car hire.

Disabled travellers:

The train is by far the easiest option for travellers with limited mobility. Special fares and excellent passanger assistance with boarding and disembarking. France's AccesPlus service is free and amazing. Ask us for details. Eurostar also offer help for disabled passengers.

We will be linking to details of fares and deals soon.

Budget rail travel:

Ask our advice on alternative options of travelling through France by train:

  • Use Ouigo.com for cheapest trains from Paris (Disneyland) to Montpellier from 20€ each way.
  • Get a rail pass for unlimited travel around France

Send your car by train

Let the train take (most of) the strain. Drive to Paris and then leave your car at the station car park. The car will be boarded on a freight train and delivered to Narbonne station (45 minutes from Marseillan) the following morning. You may then take the 4 hour TGV passenger train to meet your car. Choose from overnighting in Paris, and benefiting from a night in the capital or heading down to Languedoc and staying in Narbonne.
