One double room and one twin, and even a little juliette balcony to look out on the sleepy little street. (scroll further down the page for a sneak peak at the comfortable second double bedroom and the cheerful twin room).

Up the staircase once more to discover the open plan living space with its fully fitted kitchen, sofa and dining area.

The top floor is the true heart of the house:

A dining table for six, great kitchen for preparing the family meals with the freshest local ingredients.

The fitted kitchen area has its fridge, oven, four ring electric hob and microwave.

There is a TV and DVD for quiet nights in and you'll usually find something to read up here.

But the great outdoors is just a few steps away.

Moving on up ..

A charming iron spiral staircase leads from the living room up through the roof up to the bright dining terrace, with views over terracotta tiles, age-old chimney stacks and tall trees.

Peek over the side wall of the terrace and glimpse the centre of the village just across the rooftops, with the distinctive church spire and the caged bell that tolls the hour on the sea breeze wafting from the east.

Sit around the rooftop outdoor dining table, laden with jugs of wine from the Domaine Carayon on place Republique in the village centre, good hearty bannette loaves of bread, from the boulangerie around the corner, olives, saussages, pates, and fruit from Tuesday morning's market or the every day shops a few minutes from the house and settle down to pour a glass of fresh crisp white wine and stack a plate with that lunch that lingers 'til it becomes supper.

Or you could even send the family out to the beach, find that battered old sunhat that you sneaked into your suitcase, switch the phone onto silent mode and settle down with a long book and a longer drink and an even longer linger under the Languedoc sun.

Or keep cool by lazing on your bed at siesta time, with the window open to waft the sounds of Marseillan at its laziest on a summer breeze.

And away from the house itself ...

NEVER GO HUNGRY

A vos fourchettes! As they say in the village, for these quaint little side turnings are but a step away from the rue Emile Zola that meanders down to the market place.

You may never make it to the table by the port you planned on, since so many lures await on such a short stroll.

A fabulous patisserie to your right, fresh fish from the poissonerie to your left, and all before you step foot on the cobbles of the market place.

Even around the market, you might be tempted by the Michelin noted gastronomy of the Table d'Emilie or the aromas wafting from the fireplace at Le Boulevard where steaks are prepared over the flames!

If you do get to the port, just a few hundred yards along the road, then do allow yourself to be seduced by succulent seafood and wooed by wonderful wines.

You can always work off the guilt and the waistline at the tennis courts, on the water or even just think about it lazing on the endless sandy beach just across the lagoon.

Booking is simple. Let us know when you'd like to stay, how many people are in your party, and give us the ages of any children under 16.

Drop us an email with your address and phone number and we'll prepare the paperwork for you. It is as easy as that. You may pay us by bank transfer or simply pop a cheque in the post.

All reservations must be accompanied by a 25% deposit. Balance due 8 weeks before arrival.

We also require a security deposit against breakages of £150, refunded a week after your departure.

Prices quoted do not include linens and towels - available at a modest charge.

On the ground floor of Mon Rêve, discover a washing machine in the laundry area behind the stairs.

Mon Reve is such a cosy hideaway you could be forgiven for thinking that you were a hundred miles from the rest of civilisation.

Bbut with wifi available throughout the house, you can still stay in touch with the rest of the world, and send emails to make your friends wish they were with you. in a quiet little nook that that you call your own ...

However you travel - and there are fantastic deals right now on flights to half a dozen local airports, superb rail options and the alternative of driving down here through some spectacular scenery and across the stunning Millau Viaduct - Marseillan is the ideal enchanting ending to any journey,

And, at Mon Reve, to arrive is to come home. Drop your suitcase in the hall, and step under a refreshing shower to wash away the journey, then climb the stairs for your first glass of crisp white holiday wine, under a Mediterranean sky.

Mon Reve in Marseillan is perfectly located for life in the heart of the village. The market place has been the centre of events since Moliere himself first performed under the covered Halles in the square.

Year round the cobbles bring diversions - even in midwinter, when the place Carnot is transformed into a life sized Nativity village, lambs, donkeys and ducks wandering amngst the manquins of village characters and the Holy Family.

But do not forget the port, just five minutes walk from the centre of Marseillan. The quaysides are lined with cafes and restaurants and always home to the summer jousts and capelet sports.

From the right bank, take an afternoon boat trip on the lagoon. Renting a sailing boat with its own skipper for the entire family to picnic and swim in the centre of the lake, and all for just 50 euros.

On the left bank, nurse a pastis or an espresso for as long as you holiday book will allow.

Beyond the pleasure port, by the little fishing boats bobbing in Port Tabarka,youngsters will discover the skate park and families will enjoy the little plagette lagoon beach on the road out to the oysterbeds.

Walk in the other direction and find the lighthouse at Les Onglous, the mouth of the Canal du Midi, a little further and visit Marseillan's resident flock of flamingos at Maldormir, and continue on towards the weekend fleamarket at Marseillan Plage.
